HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Illinois Air National Guard Brigadier General Jay Sheedy of Pawnee on the occasion of his retirement on March 31, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General Jay Sheedy enlisted in the Illinois Air National Guard on October 8, 1968; he was commissioned as an officer in 1980; he was then promoted to the position of commander of the Air Guard in April of 2007; and

WHEREAS, During his four decades in the Air Guard, Brigadier General Jay Sheedy served in many command and staff assignments, including squadron commander and task force commander during the 1993 Mississippi River flood; he was mobilized again in 2003 and served at the Air Mobility Command Headquarters at Scott Air Force Base; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General Jay Sheedy serves as a model of patriotism, courage, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Illinois Air National Guard Brigadier General Jay Sheedy on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Brigadier General Jay Sheedy as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
