HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Richard Scheck, Mayor of the Village of North Riverside, on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Richard N. Scheck has been Mayor of the Village of North Riverside for the past 20 years; he was elected in April of 1989 and re-elected for his fifth term in April 2005; "the small community with a big heart", North Riverside is truly a community of caring people and Mayor Richard N. Scheck leads by example; and

WHEREAS, During Mayor Scheck's 20 years as Mayor his accomplishments include: no North Riverside property tax increase in 20 years; senior and disabled handyman program; senior and disabled rider program; snow shoveling program; Mayor's Committee of Neighborhood Services, a group of neighbors helping neighbors; successful relationship with businesses; successful relationships with State Representatives and Senators; tree planting program; pre-school and junior kindergarten programs; youth basketball and soccer programs; Mayor's Youth & Educational Scholarship Program; Commons Park development; Tot-Spot Playground development; Betty Scheck Memorial Cancer Walk; concerts and movies in the park; 4th of July Celebration; North Riverside Day; and the Village Christmas Party; and

WHEREAS, His retirement party is Saturday, March 21st; he is married and has 3 sons; his wife is Judy Scheck and his boys are Michael, Rick, and Chris; he founded and owns Scheck Industries, an extremely successful construction corporation, and all of his boys are part of the family business; he has 11 grandchildren, which he will now spend more time with after his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Richard Scheck was sworn in as Mayor on April 17, 1989; he was re-elected in the years 1993, 1997, 2001, and 2005; when elected as Mayor he was married to Mrs. Betty Scheck, who lost her fight against cancer in January of 1997; before his election as Mayor he served as President of the North Riverside Little League and Chairman for the North Riverside Zoning Board of Appeals for many years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mayor Scheck on his retirement and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mayor Richard Scheck as a symbol of our respect and admiration.
