HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders girls basketball team on becoming the 2009 Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 4A State girls basketball champions; and

WHEREAS, In a rematch of the 2008 Class 4A title game, the Lady Raiders won their second IHSA girls basketball championship by defeating Chicago-Whitney Young by a score of 53-29 on March 7, 2009, at Redbird Arena in Normal; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Raiders finished the season with a final record of 25-4, appeared in the State basketball tournament for the fifth straight year, and set a girls basketball record by becoming the first team to reach the title game four consecutive years; and

WHEREAS, The members of the team are seniors Satavia Taylor and Candace Nevels; juniors Ashley Oliver, Mercedes Griffin, Nicosia Henry, and Chanyere Hosey; sophomores Taylor Tuck, Ariel Massengale, Ciera Howard, and Falon Edwards; freshmen Charosnese Williams, Delacy Anderson, and Morgan Tuck; and the team captains are Morgan Tuck, Satavia Taylor, and Candace Nevels; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Raiders are led by eighth-year head coach Anthony Smith and assistant coaches Carter Larry, Evan Bercot, Clarence Simmons, Lauren Martens, Jeneč Graham, Corie Basset, Matt Holt, Aaron Woods, and Willie Smith; and

WHEREAS, In addition to the players and coaches, our congratulations are also extended to superintendent Dr. Phillip Schoffstall, principal James Mitchem, Jr., athletic director Alec Anderson, and trainers Gina Younce and Mattie Kaminskas; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders girls basketball team on becoming the 2009 IHSA Class 4A Girls Basketball Champions and for their class and professionalism and wish the team well in their future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Bolingbrook High School Lady Raiders as an expression of our respect and esteem.
