HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the employees and volunteers of Introspect Youth Services in Chicago on the occasion of the organization's 35th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Introspect Youth Services (IYS) was founded by Bernard Clay in June of 1975 for the purpose of providing peer-sponsored services to youth of the West Garfield community; and

WHEREAS, IYS has helped to encourage the positive development of youth into adulthood through its numerous educational, economic, and social programs and services, including the Home Work Center and Pre-Employment Skills Training programs; and

WHEREAS, IYS has successfully helped countless families to achieve the dream of sending their young adults to college and other post-secondary opportunities; IYS has helped over 30,000 kids in the Austin, West Garfield, East Garfield, North Lawndale, Lower and Near Westside communities with education and employment services since its founding; and

WHEREAS, IYS serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the employees and volunteers of Introspect Youth Services on the occasion of the organization's 35th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Introspect Youth Services as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
