HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Frank Maloney on the occasion of his retirement as ticket operations director of the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Frank Maloney graduated from the University of Michigan in 1962; prior to his service with the Cubs, he had a distinguished career in college football, serving as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan from 1968 to 1973 and as the head football coach at Syracuse University from 1974 to 1980; he also served as head football coach at Mt. Carmel High School from 1963 to 1967; and

WHEREAS, Frank Maloney joined the Cubs in November of 1981 as director of group sales; he became director of ticket sales in 1984; and

WHEREAS, During Frank Maloney's 29 seasons in the Cubs ticket office, including the last 27 seasons as director, he has overseen 9 single-season attendance records, including Wrigley Field's first 2-million fan season in 1984 and its first 3-million fan season in 2004; he also helped the Cubs to 7 consecutive seasons with 3 million fans at Wrigley Field starting in 2004, making the Cubs one of only 5 organizations to reach that mark in each of the last 7 years; and

WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Frank Maloney plans to spend more time with his loving wife, Kathleen, and his children, Michael, Molly, and Kelly, but will remain with the Chicago Cubs as a consultant during the 2011 season; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Frank Maloney on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Frank Maloney as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
