HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Frank Maloney on
4the occasion of his retirement as ticket operations director of
5the Chicago Cubs; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Frank Maloney graduated from the University of
7Michigan in 1962; prior to his service with the Cubs, he had a
8distinguished career in college football, serving as an
9assistant coach at the University of Michigan from 1968 to 1973
10and as the head football coach at Syracuse University from 1974
11to 1980; he also served as head football coach at Mt. Carmel
12High School from 1963 to 1967; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Frank Maloney joined the Cubs in November of 1981
14as director of group sales; he became director of ticket sales
15in 1984; and
 
16    WHEREAS, During Frank Maloney's 29 seasons in the Cubs
17ticket office, including the last 27 seasons as director, he
18has overseen 9 single-season attendance records, including
19Wrigley Field's first 2-million fan season in 1984 and its
20first 3-million fan season in 2004; he also helped the Cubs to
217 consecutive seasons with 3 million fans at Wrigley Field
22starting in 2004, making the Cubs one of only 5 organizations

1to reach that mark in each of the last 7 years; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Frank Maloney plans to
3spend more time with his loving wife, Kathleen, and his
4children, Michael, Molly, and Kelly, but will remain with the
5Chicago Cubs as a consultant during the 2011 season; therefore,
6be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9congratulate Frank Maloney on the occasion of his retirement
10and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Frank Maloney as a symbol of our esteem and
14respect.
