HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Downers Grove Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Star team on the occasion of the team's successful season; and

WHEREAS, The Downers Grove All-Stars was one of 12 teams that competed at the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament in Logansport, Indiana; the team qualified to participate in the regional tournament by winning the Northern Illinois State Tournament held in La Grange by defeating Westmont in the championship game by a score of 16-3; the team ended the tournament with an impressive 4-0 record; and

WHEREAS, In the 1st round of the regional tournament, the Downers Grove All-Stars held on to a one-run lead and defeated host team Logansport by a score of 6-5; the squad's second-round game against South Bend, Indiana ended in a 16-11 loss for Downers Grove; hampered by injuries to 3 players, the team was subsequently eliminated from regional play by Saginaw Valley, Michigan; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Downers Grove All-Stars are Anthony Airdo, Luke Bondi, Jack Clemens, Mike Connolly, Alex Emig, Nick King, Thomas Kochan, Zach Konezney, Dan Limanowski, Tommy Matysik, Matt Pabis, Costa Sampras, Josh Stirn, Eric Wisz, and Dane Zarnowski; the team's manager is Leo Ellis and the team's coaches are Mark Clavey, Mike Connolly, and Paul Stirn; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Downers Grove Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Star team on the occasion of the team's accomplishments and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Downers Grove All-Stars manager Leo Ellis as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
