HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Streamwood Park District on the occasion of the addition of the Hoosier Grove Schoolhouse Museum to the Country School Association of America's national historic register; and

WHEREAS, The rich history of the Hoosier Grove Schoolhouse Museum began in 1904, when local farmers in the Hanover Township area got together with a carpenter from Bartlett to build a one-room schoolhouse for their children; thanks in part to the donation of an acre of land from a local farmer, the schoolhouse was completed in the summer of 1904; due to the school's location between Hanover and Schaumburg Townships, the school was deemed to be in School District 43 1/2; about 20 kids attended school there every year from grades 1 through 8 between 1904 and 1954, when the school closed; the school moved to its present location at 700 West Irving Park Road in Streamwood in 1988; and

WHEREAS, Thanks to the diligent efforts of Rich Janiec, Paula Lambertz, and numerous other members of the Streamwood Historical Society, the Hoosier Grove Schoolhouse Museum was one of only 8 schools in the nation to be added to the Country School Association of America's national historic register this year and one of only 18 total schools on the list; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Streamwood Historical Society serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we to congratulate the Streamwood Historical Society on the occasion of the addition of the Hoosier Grove Schoolhouse Museum to the Country School Association of America's national historic register and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Rich Janiec and Paula Lambertz as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
