HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the librarians and staff of the Naperville Public Library on receiving 5 Stars from the new Library Journal Index of Public Library Service; and

WHEREAS, The Library Journal Index of Public Library Service was unveiled on February 17, 2009 and ranked 7,115 libraries across the country; and

WHEREAS, The Naperville Library had already earned a number one ranking in the Hennen's American Public Library Ratings (HAPLR) system, another national ranking system; the library is the only one in the United States to earn that ranking nine times; and

WHEREAS, In addition, the Library also ranked high in a community-wide survey; and

WHEREAS, More than 4.3 million items are checked out of the Naperville Public Library annually; more than 1.5 million people walk through the doors of the three buildings that make up the Naperville Public Library facilities; and

WHEREAS, In earning 5 Stars the Library is in an exclusive category: only one percent of the libraries in the country got a five-star rating, and only ten libraries in the State of Illinois got any stars; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the librarians and staff of the Naperville Public Library on this award and thank them for their service to the community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the librarians and staff of the Naperville Public Library as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
