HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Janie Wells on the occasion of her 90th birthday on October 12, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Janie Wells was born on October 12, 1920, in Summerlin, Mississippi; her parents are Anderson and Janie Dixson; she was the second of 3 children, Mattie D. being the oldest child and Anderson Dixson (Jack the Bear) being the youngest child; she married Tomie Wells on May 1, 1937; the couple was married for 65 years; and

WHEREAS, In 1939, Janie Wells and her husband moved to Illinois and settled in the west side of Chicago; during this time, two children were born to the couple, Thomas and Judy; and

WHEREAS, Janie Wells lived in Argo from 1941 to 1973 and was employed for many years at Ford Motors and Reynolds Aluminum; she also worked for many years as a domestic engineer in Chicago's western suburbs; after her retirement in 1986, she purchased a home in Bellwood; and

WHEREAS, Janie Wells is the proud mother of Thomas (Anna); she also has 9 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Janie Wells on the occasion of her 90th birthday and wish her many happy and healthy years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Janie Wells as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
