HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Wanda Marzahl for receiving the "2010 Most Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator Award" from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; and

WHEREAS, For over 25 years Wanda Marzahl has played a significant role in ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply for her community; and

WHEREAS, Wanda Marzahl volunteered to coordinate her first blood drive on behalf of the Rock River Valley Blood Center at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Harvard, held on December 12, 1984, and where 66 units of blood were collected; and

WHEREAS, Since her first blood drive was such a success, Wanda Marzahl coordinated two blood drives for the Rock River Valley Blood Center again in 1985; and

WHEREAS, In 1986, Wanda Marzahl expanded her volunteerism, hosting three blood drives a year; and

WHEREAS, Since 1996, Wanda Marzahl has been hosting 4 blood drives a year in Harvard; and

WHEREAS, Wanda hosts one of her drives in December, one of the most difficult months to collect blood; she incorporates a "Toys for Tots Drive" to further benefit those in need in her community; and

WHEREAS, Wanda has served as the Chairperson of 92 blood drives and is responsible for the collection of 5,165 pints of blood; and

WHEREAS, In 2010 the Rock River Valley Blood Center nominated Wanda Marzahl as the "Most Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator" in a State-wide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Wanda Marzahl for her years of service and commitment to the community and wish her continued success with her blood drive collection efforts; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Wanda Marzahl as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
