1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The bomb and mine disposal profession was created
3 in April 1941; and

4     WHEREAS, Members of explosive ordnance disposal
5 organizations perform a dangerous and selfless task often
6 without recognition, risking their lives on behalf of the
7 United States of America; and

8     WHEREAS, The United States will forever be in debt to
9 personnel in the profession of explosive ordnance disposal for
10 their bravery and sacrifice in times of peace and war; and

11     WHEREAS, People in the United States should express their
12 recognition and gratitude for members of the explosive ordnance
13 disposal profession; and

14     WHEREAS, The first Saturday in May would be an appropriate
15 date to observe as National Explosive Ordnance Disposal Day;
16 therefore, be it

17     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 support the federal designation of National Explosive Ordnance
20 Disposal Day to honor those who are serving and have served in

1 the noble and self-sacrificing profession of explosive
2 ordnance disposal in the United States Armed Forces.
