HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United
4States Army Ranger Joseph Whiting Dimock II of Wildwood, who
5gave his life in the service of his country while serving at
6Camp Salerno, Afghanistan on July 10, 2010; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Joseph (Joey) was born in Libertyville on May 25,
81989 to Joseph and Ellen Dimock; he grew up with his younger
9brothers, Louis and Michael in Wildwood, where the Dimock
10family has lived for 21 years; he attended the Wildwood
11Presbyterian Church, where he was baptized at the age of 3
12months and confirmed as an adult member in eighth grade; he
13faithfully attended Sunday School, worship, and the
14middle-school and high-school youth fellowship groups; he was
15particularly devoted to the annual summer high school mission
16trips, where he put his energy and skills to good use; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joey loved the outdoors and was an active member
18of Cub Scout Pack, Venture Crew, and Boy Scout Troop 672; he
19earned the rank of Eagle Scout; for his Eagle Scout project, he
20collected nearly 200 worn, American flags so they could be
21honorably retired in a special ceremony; and
 
22    WHEREAS, In 2007, Joey graduated from Warren Township High

1School; he was a superb swimmer and a member of the Warren Blue
2Devils swim team and swim club; in 2006, he and his teammates
3set the Junior Varsity Swim Record in the 400 yard freestyle
4relay, in which he swam the anchor leg; in the spring of his
5senior year of high school, he joined the United States Army
6and began his service in August of 2007; and
 
7    WHEREAS, He served in the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger
8Regiment and was currently serving his third overseas
9deployment, his second in Afghanistan supporting Operation
10Enduring Freedom; during his service, he received the Ranger
11Tab, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Parachutist Badge; he
12was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan
13Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism
14Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon; and he was
15posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Army
16Commendation Medal; and
 
17    WHEREAS, United States Army Ranger Joseph Whiting Dimock II
18is survived by his loving family, his parents, Joseph and
19Ellen; his brothers, Louis and Michael; his paternal
20grandmother, Elna Jensen Dimock; his maternal grandfather,
21Alan R. McCausland; and his aunts, uncles, cousins, friends,
22and fellow soldiers; therefore, be it
 
23    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful nation,
3the passing of United States Army Ranger Joseph Whiting Dimock
4II; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of United States Army
6Ranger Joseph Whiting Dimock II and his willingness to serve
7his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice;
8and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to United States Army Ranger Joseph Whiting Dimock II
11as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
