HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Laurie Stone on the occasion of her retirement as President of the Schaumburg Business Association (SBA) and thank her for her many years of service to her community; and

WHEREAS, Laurie Stone was recruited from the Greater O'Hare Association to the fledgling Schaumburg Business Association during the dark days of September 2001; she has since helped the SBA to new heights and popularity and resiliency, even during the tough economic times experienced in the last decade; and

WHEREAS, During her tenure at the SBA, Laurie Stone created a variety of ways for businesses to network and form connections; she also worked directly on improving the climate for business by having the SBA lobby for better state finances; and

WHEREAS, Prior to her service with the Greater O'Hare Association, Laurie Stone served as marketing director of the Northwest Suburban Alliance for Commerce and Industry in Schaumburg for 5 years; and

WHEREAS, Laurie Stone worked for Alexian Brothers Medical Systems from May 2003 to April 2004; she also chaired a committee consisting of representatives of Alexian Brothers Hospital and Northwest Community Hospital to create a clinic in Mt. Prospect for the medically underserved; and

WHEREAS, Laurie Stone served as the executive director of NIBPAC, a political action committee operated jointed by 12 chambers of commerce; she served on the Village of Schaumburg's 50th Anniversary Committee; she also represented Elk Grove Village as a member of the Convention Center Authority and served on the Elk Grove Village Industrial Park Revitalization Committee; and

WHEREAS, Laurie Stone has served as a Trustee of the Harper College Board since 2001; and

WHEREAS, Laurie Stone is the loving mother of 4 children and the adoring grandmother of 8 grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Laurie Stone was the writer and producer of "Sixty Ideas in Sixty Minutes", a film shown to Chamber of Commerce Membership Directors at their national convention; and

WHEREAS, The Schaumburg Business Association will honor Laurie Stone and her many years of dedicated service with a retirement party at the Chicago Marriott Schaumburg on May 26, 2010; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Laurie Stone on the occasion of her retirement, thank her for her many years of service to her community, and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Laurie Stone as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
