HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Rich Gordon on the occasion of his retirement after 37 years of service as a teacher; and

WHEREAS, Rich Gordon taught business classes and coached at Central Catholic High School in Bloomington and at Bloomington High School; he took over the Business Information Processing for Bloomington AVC and introduced personal computers to all students at Bloomington High School and the Bloomington AVC; he also served as the Business Department's lead teacher and brought 3 of the school's departments under the Business and Applied Technology Department at Bloomington High School; and

WHEREAS, Rich Gordon pioneered personal finance instruction for his students by introducing them to lessons about investment and financial responsibility and security; and

WHEREAS, Rich Gordon served as the head basketball coach at Bloomington High School from 1990 to 1998, ending his tenure with a 123-89 record; he served as the head boys golf coach from 2003 to 2010; he also coached lower level basketball for several years and coached baseball, girls golf, and bowling teams; and

WHEREAS, Rich Gordon serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Rich Gordon on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Rich Gordon as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
