HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Rich Gordon on the
4 occasion of his retirement after 37 years of service as a
5 teacher; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Rich Gordon taught business classes and coached at
7 Central Catholic High School in Bloomington and at Bloomington
8 High School; he took over the Business Information Processing
9 for Bloomington AVC and introduced personal computers to all
10 students at Bloomington High School and the Bloomington AVC; he
11 also served as the Business Department's lead teacher and
12 brought 3 of the school's departments under the Business and
13 Applied Technology Department at Bloomington High School; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Rich Gordon pioneered personal finance
15 instruction for his students by introducing them to lessons
16 about investment and financial responsibility and security;
17 and
 
18     WHEREAS, Rich Gordon served as the head basketball coach at
19 Bloomington High School from 1990 to 1998, ending his tenure
20 with a 123-89 record; he served as the head boys golf coach
21 from 2003 to 2010; he also coached lower level basketball for
22 several years and coached baseball, girls golf, and bowling

1 teams; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Rich Gordon serves as a model of hard work,
3 integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
4 Illinois; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7 congratulate Rich Gordon on the occasion of his retirement and
8 wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Rich Gordon as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
