HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, After 30 years of dedicated service and 19 years as Deputy Majority Leader, State Representative Arthur L. Turner has decided to retire from the Illinois General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives wish to congratulate State Representative Arthur L. Turner and thank him for his outstanding service to the people of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, State Representative Arthur L. Turner has served the State of Illinois and his constituents in the Ninth District with unprecedented distinction, compassion, skill, and aplomb throughout his entire career; and

WHEREAS, State Representative Arthur L. Turner's independent mind and receptiveness to new ideas has made him one of the most respected members of this body; and

WHEREAS, State Representative Arthur L. Turner has always been exceptionally fair and honest and able to work with members regardless of their party affiliation; and

WHEREAS, State Representative Arthur L. Turner is held in the highest regard by all who have come to know him; and

WHEREAS, State Representative Arthur L. Turner, over his legislative career, has influenced major policies and legislation to the benefit of all Illinoisans; and

WHEREAS, State Representative Arthur L. Turner has developed major policies like the Affordable Housing Trust Fund and the Donation Tax Credit, a national best practice model of government and private institution collaboration at work; and

WHEREAS, State Representative Arthur L. Turner's strong work on issues of criminal and juvenile justice and strong commitment to human rights of the accused and incarcerated; and

WHEREAS, State Representative Arthur L. Turner's commitment to quality education for our youth in Illinois and our urban communities has insured the growth and development of our State's future leaders; and

WHEREAS, State Representative Arthur L. Turner's presence and work ethic will be deeply missed by all the members of the Legislature, staff persons, institutions, and organizations, who have had the pleasure to work with him throughout his career; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Illinois State Representative Art Turner on his retirement from this body and deeply thank him for his many years of service to the citizens of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Illinois State Representative Art Turner as an expression of our respect and esteem.
