HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The concept of today's savings banks and savings
3 and loan associations, formerly known as building and loan
4 associations, has been in effect in the State of Illinois since
5 July 1, 1872, when the General Assembly passed an act to enable
6 a group of individuals to raise funds for loan purposes among
7 its members; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Savings banks have grown and prospered over the
9 years, becoming strong financial institutions that contribute
10 to the betterment of their communities in the process; and
 
11     WHEREAS, The Eureka Savings Bank of LaSalle, chartered on
12 April 16, 1885, is celebrating 125 years of continuous
13 existence in 2010; this organization has served as a bulwark of
14 confidence and strength for the entire Illinois Valley
15 community and has weathered depressions, financial crises, and
16 other calamities that have plagued the nation throughout the
17 last 125 years; therefore, be it
 
18     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 congratulate the board and employees of the Eureka Savings Bank
21 on the occasion of the organization's 125th anniversary and
22 wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be

2     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
3 presented to the Eureka Savings Bank as a symbol of our esteem
4 and respect.
