HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. Barbara J. Howery on all her accomplishments while serving as Superintendent of Pembroke School District 259; and

WHEREAS, Her many accomplishments include: a new gymnasium floor; the Lorenzo R. Smith Broadcasting Studio; the Hopkins Park/Pembroke Theatre; an archaeology lab; a new fitness center; the Illinois Steps Ahead College/Career Preparatory Program; and the Parent Academy Mobile; and

WHEREAS, The students under her tenure as superintendent showed improvement on Illinois Student Achievement scores; the schools received 2009 Illinois Honor Roll School recognition; various grants for school operation were awarded; all cafeteria table seating and major appliances were upgraded; new gymnasium lights and a sound system were installed; and the Pembroke School District website was developed; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Howery began her tenure with the district in 2002; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. Howery on all her accomplishment and wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Barbara Howery as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
