HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Hillcrest Hawks High School boys basketball team for their victory in the IHSA Class 3A State basketball tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Hillcrest Hawks High School boys basketball team defeated Peoria Richwoods 58-55 to win the IHSA Class 3A State basketball tournament; the team was able to upset higher ranked teams due to an unrelenting defense and excellent free throw shooting; and

WHEREAS, The Hillcrest Hawks High School boys basketball team marks the first state basketball championship in Hillcrest High School's history; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Hillcrest Hawks High School boys basketball team are Jeremiah Horne, Terez Haskins, Julius Brown, LeBarron Hull, Eric Gaines, Darren Tillman, Nick Oden, Herb Offord, DeShawn Wash, Cassell James, Brandon Hill, Pierre Johnson, and Kadeem Thornton; the team's coach is Don Houston; the team's assistant coaches are Dave Braden, Joe Banach, Justin Edgecombe, and Cornelius Crossley; the school's superintendent is Bill Kendall, the principal is Renee Simms, and the athletic director is Lisa Wunar; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Hillcrest Hawks High School boys basketball team serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Hillcrest Hawks High School boys basketball team for their victory in the IHSA Class 3A State basketball tournament and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Hillcrest Hawks boys basketball coach Don Houston as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
