HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Officer Alejandro Valadez, who passed away June 1, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Officer Alejandro Valadez was born on February 1, 1982; he attended Brother Rice High School and graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice; and

WHEREAS, Officer Alejandro Valadez was appointed to the Chicago Police Department on December 5, 2005 and worked in the 022nd and 007th Districts; and

WHEREAS, Officer Alejandro Valadez served the Chicago Police Department with honor and distinction, earning a Department of Commendation Award and 22 Honorable Mentions awards during his three year career; and

WHEREAS, Officer Valadez was a proud member of the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago Police Department has retired Officer Valadez's star, which is numbered 9534; and

WHEREAS, Officer Valadez leaves behind a fiance, a brother and sister, all of whom are current members of the Chicago Police Department, as well as a newborn son whom he was not able to meet; and

WHEREAS, Officer Alejandro Valadez dedicated and gave his life to protecting and serving the people of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and brothers and sisters of the Fraternal Order of Police, the passing of Officer Alejandro Valadez; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Officer Alejandro Valadez as an expression of our sympathy.
