| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, Dr. Dianne Ashby, Vice President for University | | 3 |
| Advancement at Illinois State University, will retire on May 1, | | 4 |
| 2010, after 18 years of extraordinary service to the Illinois | | 5 |
| State University community; and
| | 6 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Ashby received her Bachelor's degree in Speech | | 7 |
| and Theater Arts from MacMurray College, her Master's degree in | | 8 |
| Educational Administration from the University of Illinois in | | 9 |
| Springfield, and her Doctorate in Educational Administration | | 10 |
| from Southern Illinois University; and
| | 11 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Ashby began her professional career working in | | 12 |
| administrative and teaching positions with Kindergarten | | 13 |
| through 12th grade students, the Illinois State Board of | | 14 |
| Education, and the Department of Corrections; and
| | 15 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Ashby began working at Illinois State | | 16 |
| University in Normal in 1991 as the Illinois Postsecondary HIV | | 17 |
| Prevention Education Project Coordinator, later becoming a | | 18 |
| member of the Illinois State University faculty and serving as | | 19 |
| Principal of University High School; and
| | 20 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Ashby furthered her career at Illinois State | | 21 |
| University with her appointment as Department Chair of |

| Educational Administration and Foundations and Dean of the | | 2 |
| College of Education; and
| | 3 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Ashby was appointed Vice President for | | 4 |
| University Advancement following a successful fundraising | | 5 |
| campaign that benefitted the University with the addition of 70 | | 6 |
| new endowments to the Illinois State University Foundation, | | 7 |
| which provides hundreds of students with scholarships; and
| | 8 |
| WHEREAS, Under Dr. Ashby's leadership, Illinois State | | 9 |
| University acquired a new Alumni Center, implemented new | | 10 |
| marketing strategies, and incorporated innovative outreach | | 11 |
| activities for alumni around the world; and
| | 12 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Ashby has served the State of Illinois and | | 13 |
| Illinois State University students, faculty, staff, and alumni | | 14 |
| with intelligence, dedication, and the highest integrity; | | 15 |
| therefore, be it
| | 16 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | | 17 |
| NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | | 18 |
| congratulate Dr. Dianne Ashby on her retirement and wish her | | 19 |
| the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further
| | 20 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | | 21 |
| presented to Dr. Dianne Ashby as a symbol of our respect and |
