HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate David F. Clark on the occasion of his upcoming retirement as Deputy Director of the Illinois Fire Service Institute; and

WHEREAS, David Clark has served as Deputy Director of the Illinois Fire Service Institute since 1998 and has served as the leader of more than 500 institute faculty and instructional staff; during his tenure, the Institute has provided over 12,000 courses to more than 500,000 fire and other emergency responders and community leaders in every Illinois county, classes that total more than 5 million student instructional hours; and

WHEREAS, David Clark has served as a member of the Illinois Terrorism Task Force since its inception in 2000; and

WHEREAS, David Clark has served as a member of the faculty of the Illinois Fire Service Institute since February of 1976; since 1976, he has personally provided hands-on fireman training and developed a considerable body of training programs for tens of thousands of firefighters from throughout Illinois and the nation; and

WHEREAS, David Clark has been a pioneer in creating a sound and practical scientific research program regarding firefighter life safety issues at the Illinois Fire Service Institute; and

WHEREAS, David Clark served as a member of the Illinois Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team, which assists Illinois firefighters and their families and fire departments to recover from the tragic loss of a firefighter in the line of duty; and

WHEREAS, From 1965 to 1985, except for a period of active duty service in the United States Army, David Clark served as a volunteer firefighter and eventually Fire Chief for the Brimfield Community Fire Protection District; from 1970 to 1974, he served as a firefighter with the Normal Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, From 1968 to 1970, David Clark served as a member of the 3rd United States Infantry Regiment, known as the "Old Guard", at Arlington National Cemetery; he ultimately achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-5) and team leader; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate David F. Clark on the occasion of his retirement and lifetime of service to the firefighters and citizens of the State of Illinois and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to David Clark as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
