HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events in Illinois communities; and

WHEREAS, The Richwoods High School Boys Basketball Team from Peoria finished second in the 2010 Class 3A Boys Basketball Tournament on March 20, 2010, after a final score of 58-55 against Hillcrest High School; and

WHEREAS, The Richwoods Knights finished the season with a record of 30 wins and three losses, to tie the school record of most wins in a season, and a conference record of eight wins and no losses; and

WHEREAS, Team members include: Nate Desjardins, Preston Wells, Parish Mason, Tylon Deal, Jack Murphy, Torrance Evans, Aaron Davis, Nick Hines, Tony Frazier, Jared Dehm, Will Jenkins, Mason Alwan, Aaron Kemmerling, and T.J. Cole; and

WHEREAS, The coaching staff includes: Head Coach Mike Ellis, Assistant Head Coach Robert Foster, and Assistants William Smith, James Roberts, and Mike Jenkins; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Mike Ellis has served seven seasons as the head coach at Richwoods High School with a career record of 155-55; Coach Ellis has been named IBCA Coach of the Year four times, brought teams to State Championship games twice, Super-Sectional games three times, and has won multiple Sectional and Regional Championships; and

WHEREAS, The #1 ranked Team by the Associated Press for eight straight weeks, the Richwoods Knights captured many season championships including the Rock Island Thanksgiving Tournament Championship, Pekin Holiday Tournament Championship, Mid-State Six Conference Championship, IHSA Regional Championship, IHSA Sectional Championship, IHSA Super-Sectional Championship, and Runner-Up for the IHSA Class 3A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, This balanced, unselfish, talented team worked hard and the entire Peoria community is proud of their tireless efforts; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor the players, coaches, parents, students, and fans of Richwoods High School for their valiant efforts and we wish them future success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Richwoods High School as an expression of our esteem.
