HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jerry H. Cizek III of Glen Ellyn on the occasion of his retirement as president of the Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA); and

WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III is a Chicago-area native; he graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Bradley University in Peoria; he is an inductee of the Bradley University Athletic Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III has had a long and distinguished career in the automotive industry; he began his career in 1968, when he joined his father and grandfather in their dealership; he then attended the Chrysler Motors Institute and continued in the retail automobile business until 1972, when he accepted a position with the American Motors Corporation; in 1973, he joined CATA as a field representative; he also served CATA as the Director of Dealer Relations; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III served as president of CATA from July of 1988 to January of 2010; he also served as the general manager of the internationally-famous Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III was a past commissioner, officer, and president of the Butterfield Park District; he is a past chairman of the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce; he is a past chairman of The Civic Federation and a member of the Past Chairman's Council; he is a former director of the Park National Bank & Trust Company and a director of the Chicago Metropolitan Better Business Bureau, where he was a recipient of the BBB's coveted Torchbearer Award; he is a member of the Illinois Secretary of State's Dealer Advisory Board and the Auto Dealers Advisory Board for the Illinois Attorney General; he is a past president of the Automotive Trade Association Executives and is a recipient of the Northwood University Automotive Trade Association's Executive of the Year award; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, and skeet shooting; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Cizek III and his wife, Cheryl, have 3 children, Stacey, Lauren, and Jerry IV, and 2 grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we we congratulate Jerry H. Cizek III on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jerry Cizek III as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
