SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
25 ILCS 10/7 new
30 ILCS 605/7.7 new

    Amends the General Assembly Operations Act and the State Property Control Act. Prohibits assignment of State-owned automotive vehicles to the General Assembly for use by legislative leaders, members, or staff. Requires the sale of any such automotive vehicles, with the proceeds deposited into the General Revenue Fund. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The General Assembly Operations Act is amended
5 by adding Section 7 as follows:
 
6     (25 ILCS 10/7 new)
7     Sec. 7. Assignment of automotive vehicles. No automotive
8 vehicle owned by the State shall be assigned to the General
9 Assembly or to either house of the General Assembly, or
10 otherwise dedicated, for the use of one or more legislative
11 leaders, members, or staff.
 
12     Section 10. The State Property Control Act is amended by
13 adding Section 7.7 as follows:
 
14     (30 ILCS 605/7.7 new)
15     Sec. 7.7. Sale of General Assembly vehicles.
16 Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, each
17 automotive vehicle owned by the State and assigned to the
18 General Assembly or to either house of the General Assembly is
19 deemed surplus and shall be sold by the Administrator as soon
20 as possible after the effective date of this amendatory Act of
21 the 96th General Assembly using the method deemed by the

1 Administrator to be in the best interest of the State. Proceeds
2 from the sale of each automotive vehicle shall be deposited
3 into the General Revenue Fund.
 
4     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
5 becoming law.
