SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
410 ILCS 620/21.4 new

    Amends the Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. Provides that the Department of Public Health may not regulate the practice of extracting honey from a bee comb by a beekeeper, nor may the Department regulate or inspect honey houses. Defines "honey house" as any stationary or portable building, or any room or place within a building, used for the purpose of extracting, processing, or other handling of honey. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning health.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act is
5 amended by adding Section 21.4 as follows:
 
6     (410 ILCS 620/21.4 new)
7     Sec. 21.4. Honey. Notwithstanding any other provision of
8 this Act, the Department may not regulate the practice of
9 extracting honey from a bee comb by a beekeeper, nor may the
10 Department regulate or inspect honey houses. As used in this
11 Section, "honey house" means any stationary or portable
12 building, or any room or place within a building, used for the
13 purpose of extracting, processing, or other handling of honey.
 
14     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
15 becoming law.
