SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

330 ILCS 60/8 new

Amends the Service Member's Employment Tenure Act. Provides that the Attorney General shall establish and maintain a statewide toll-free hotline to provide information and referrals to employees or other individuals concerning their rights under the Act; the hotline shall include the capability of accepting complaints of an employer's violation of the Act. Provides that the Attorney General shall establish and maintain a statewide list of employers who have been convicted of violating the Act; the Attorney General shall make the information in the list available to the public on its official web site and by any other means the Attorney General deems appropriate. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning veterans.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Service Member's Employment Tenure Act is amended by adding Section 8 as follows:

(330 ILCS 60/8 new)

Sec. 8. Attorney General; hotline; employer list.

(a) The Attorney General shall establish and maintain a statewide toll-free hotline to provide information and referrals to employees or other individuals concerning their rights under this Act. The hotline shall include the capability of accepting complaints of an employer's violation of this Act.

(b) The Attorney General shall establish and maintain a statewide list of employers who have been convicted of violating this Act. The Attorney General shall make the information in the list available to the public on its official web site and by any other means the Attorney General deems appropriate.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
