SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
815 ILCS 505/2III new

    Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Provides that a person may not sell, market, promote, advertise, or otherwise distribute an individual's social security number without that individual's express written consent. Makes a person's violation of this provision an unlawful practice under the Act.

1     AN ACT concerning business.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
5 Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2III as follows:
 
6     (815 ILCS 505/2III new)
7     Sec. 2III. Unauthorized distribution of social security
8 number. A person may not sell, market, promote, advertise, or
9 otherwise distribute an individual's social security number
10 without that individual's express written consent. A person's
11 violation of this Section is an unlawful practice within the
12 meaning of this Act.
