SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
105 ILCS 5/2-3.153 new
105 ILCS 5/10-20.53 new
105 ILCS 5/34-18.45 new

    Amends the School Code. Subject to funding by the State Board of Education, provides that a school board shall require a school to provide recordings for its blind and dyslexic students. Requires the State Board to provide funding to school districts for the provision of recordings for blind and dyslexic students. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
5 2-3.153, 10-20.53, and 34-18.45 as follows:
 
6     (105 ILCS 5/2-3.153 new)
7     Sec. 2-3.153. Recordings for blind and dyslexic students;
8 funding. The State Board of Education shall provide funding to
9 school districts for the provision of recordings for blind and
10 dyslexic students.
 
11     (105 ILCS 5/10-20.53 new)
12     Sec. 10-20.53. Recordings for blind and dyslexic students.
13 Subject to funding by the State Board of Education, a school
14 board shall require a school to provide recordings for its
15 blind and dyslexic students.
 
16     (105 ILCS 5/34-18.45 new)
17     Sec. 34-18.45. Recordings for blind and dyslexic students.
18 Subject to funding by the State Board of Education, the board
19 shall require a school to provide recordings for its blind and
20 dyslexic students.

1     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2 becoming law.
