SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

105 ILCS 5/2-3.148 new

Amends the School Code. Requires the State Board of Education to create a low-interest revolving loan program for school districts to renovate, rehabilitate, or upgrade existing school facilities to incorporate environmentally friendly or energy-efficient building materials or alternative energy devices.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section 2-3.148 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/2-3.148 new)

Sec. 2-3.148. Energy efficiency in schools; loan program. The State Board of Education shall create a low-interest revolving loan program for school districts to renovate, rehabilitate, or upgrade existing school facilities to incorporate environmentally friendly or energy-efficient building materials or alternative energy devices. The State Board may adopt any rules necessary to implement this Section.
