SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

405 ILCS 5/1-129

Amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning mental illness. Effective immediately.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code is amended by changing Section 1-129 as follows:

(405 ILCS 5/1-129)

Sec. 1-129. Mental illness. "Mental illness" means a mental, or emotional disorder that substantially impairs a person's thought, perception of reality, emotional process, judgment, behavior, or ability to cope with the the ordinary demands of life, but does not include a developmental disability, dementia or Alzheimer's disease absent psychosis, a substance abuse disorder, or an abnormality manifested only by repeated criminal or otherwise antisocial conduct.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
