SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Everett Hugh Collins of Benton, who
4 passed away on March 8, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Everett Collins was born June 8, 1923, in Mount
6 Vernon, the son of Everett Hugh Collins Sr. and Alice (Bean)
7 Collins; he married the former Evelyn Wootton on November 14,
8 1942, and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2000; he later
9 married the former Jean Gregory on January 25, 2003; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He was co-owner with Clarence Barton of Barton and
11 Collins Furniture Store in Benton, which operated for more than
12 50 years; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He was an active member of the community, a
14 50-year member of the Benton Kiwanis club and an active member
15 of the First Christian Church in Benton; he was also a member
16 of Gideons International and active in the local chapter of
17 Habitat for Humanity and the Benton Ministerial Alliance; he
18 was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States
19 Army Air Corps as a radio technician; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his parents;
21 his first wife; and his infant sister; and

1     WHEREAS, Everett Collins is survived by his wife, Jean
2 Collins; his daughter and son-in-law, Linda L. and Gale Neal;
3 his son and daughter-in-law, Don Cary and Kimberly Collins; his
4 grandchildren, Lorrie Cynowa and husband, Rob, Richard Van
5 Neal, Laura A. Collins and husband, and Cary Hugh; his sister
6 and brother-in-law, June and William Carroll; and his many
7 nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 his family and friends, the passing of Everett Hugh Collins;
11 and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Everett Collins as a symbol of our
14 sympathy.
