SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Alma A. VanMiddlesworth of Canton, who passed away on November 19, 2008; and

WHEREAS, She was born on June 11, 1915 in Orion Township, Fulton County, to William H. and Elsie Jane (Johns) Peterson; she married J. Esta VanMiddlesworth on October 2, 1934 in Pekin; and

WHEREAS, Alma was an Avon Representative for many years and had received several service awards; she was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Canton; and

WHEREAS, She was past president of the Anderson School P.T.A., and had a lifetime membership in the National P.T.A. organization; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sisters, Hazel E. Ruey-Williamson and Mabel Davis; her brother, George A. Peterson; and her grandchild, Shannan VanMiddlesworth; and

WHEREAS, Alma VanMiddlesworth is survived by her son, James Alan (Judy) VanMiddlesworth; her daughter, Peggy Jane (Darrell) Meisinger; her sister-in-law, Lucille Peterson; her grandchildren, Tobi (Peter) Datillo, Nicolas VanMiddlesworth, Cole (Darla) Meisinger, and Kathryn Bouton; her eight great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchild; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Alma VanMiddlesworth; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Alma VanMiddlesworth as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
