SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joe Hoffman of Lincolnshire, who passed away on July 19, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He grew up in Deerfield, and moved to Lincolnshire nine years ago; and

WHEREAS, His family once owned the land where Deerfield Square now sits; and

WHEREAS, He recently completed a term as commander of American Legion Post 738, where he was a member for over fifty years; he was also involved with the Deerfield Historical Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Highland Park; and

WHEREAS, He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War; he worked at Allstate Insurance before retiring; and he loved to snow ski and serve as an instructor to others, teaching for many years at the Snowflake Ski Club; and

WHEREAS, Joe Hoffman is survived by his wife, Monica; his sons, Tom, Steve, and Ken (Marcy); and his five grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Joe Hoffman; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joe Hoffman as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
