SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Perina E. Verticchio of Gillespie, who passed away on December 9, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Perina Verticchio was born on July 10, 1916 in Eagarville; she was the daughter of Peter and Anna Albertini Erspamer; and

WHEREAS, Perina Verticchio was a graduate of Gillespie High School; she earned her bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis and her master's degree in education from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville; and

WHEREAS, Perina Verticchio was a retired elementary education teacher for Unit District No. 7 in Gillespie, where she taught for 44 years; and

WHEREAS, Perina Verticchio was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Church in Gillespie; she was a member of the Ss. Simon and Jude Altar Society, Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Macoupin County and Illinois Retired Teachers Association; and

WHEREAS, Perina Verticchio was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, John, Julius, and August Erspamer; and

WHEREAS, Perina Verticchio is survived by her husband, Michael P. Verticchio; her stepson, Michael J. (wife, Suzanne) Verticchio; her stepdaughter, Mary Jo (husband, Douglas) Handley; her five step-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Perina E. Verticchio; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Perina Verticchio as an expression of our sympathy.
