1 SENATE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, Criminal allegations are pending regarding the
3 conduct of Governor Rod R. Blagojevich; and

4     WHEREAS, The State of Illinois and our nation as a whole
5 currently face an economic crisis that profoundly affects all
6 of us; and

7     WHEREAS, The State of Illinois will need to take decisive
8 action in the coming weeks and months to deal with this
9 economic crisis and its effect on State finances; and

10     WHEREAS, The nature and severity of the allegations pending
11 against Governor Rod R. Blagojevich significantly interfere
12 with his ability to participate effectively in the process of
13 dealing with the problems faced by the State of Illinois;
14 therefore, be it

15     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we call upon Governor
17 Rod R. Blagojevich to resign immediately in light of the
18 allegations pending against him; and be it further

19     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be delivered to
20 Governor Rod R. Blagojevich.
