SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of James M. "Bing" Kane of Joliet, who
4 passed away on November 30, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, James M. "Bing" Kane was born in Joliet and a
6 lifelong resident; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Dr. Kane was a lifelong member of St. Patrick
8 Catholic Church; he was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High
9 School Class of 1948, and Loyola University Dental School Class
10 of 1955; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He served two years in Japan, as a Captain in the
12 United States Air Force from 1955 to 1957; he opened his dental
13 practice in Joliet in 1958, and retired in 1996; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita (nee
15 Birkey); his parents, John Joseph and Cecilia Kane; one
16 granddaughter, Kathleen Piercy; and his three brothers,
17 William, Richard, and Gerald; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Dr. Kane is survived by his six children, Dr.
19 James (Michelle) Kane, Patrick Kane, Ann Piercy, Jennifer (Vic)
20 Howard, Julie (Dan) Okruhlica, and Dr. John "Mitch" (Jody)

1 Kane; his fifteen grandchildren, Kelly, Matt, Tim, Owen, Molly,
2 and Maggie Kane, Christopher, Brendan, Elizabeth, and Annalise
3 Kane, Collin, Megan, and Erin Piercy, and Connor and Grace
4 Okruhlica; his three brothers, Jack (Ann) Kane, Dr. Thomas
5 (Merrily) Kane, and Dr. Robert Kane; his sister, MaryCele (Jim)
6 Doyle; his two sisters-in-law, Kathryn (Henry) Offerman and
7 Jeanne (William) Rourke; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and
8 special friends, Dr. George and Marge Osterberger; therefore,
9 be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
11 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
12 his family and friends, the passing of Dr. James "Bing" Kane;
13 and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to the family of Dr. James "Bing" Kane as a symbol of
16 our sincere sympathy.
