SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of James M. "Bing" Kane of Joliet, who passed away on November 30, 2008; and

WHEREAS, James M. "Bing" Kane was born in Joliet and a lifelong resident; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kane was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Catholic Church; he was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School Class of 1948, and Loyola University Dental School Class of 1955; and

WHEREAS, He served two years in Japan, as a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1957; he opened his dental practice in Joliet in 1958, and retired in 1996; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita (nee Birkey); his parents, John Joseph and Cecilia Kane; one granddaughter, Kathleen Piercy; and his three brothers, William, Richard, and Gerald; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Kane is survived by his six children, Dr. James (Michelle) Kane, Patrick Kane, Ann Piercy, Jennifer (Vic) Howard, Julie (Dan) Okruhlica, and Dr. John "Mitch" (Jody) Kane; his fifteen grandchildren, Kelly, Matt, Tim, Owen, Molly, and Maggie Kane, Christopher, Brendan, Elizabeth, and Annalise Kane, Collin, Megan, and Erin Piercy, and Connor and Grace Okruhlica; his three brothers, Jack (Ann) Kane, Dr. Thomas (Merrily) Kane, and Dr. Robert Kane; his sister, MaryCele (Jim) Doyle; his two sisters-in-law, Kathryn (Henry) Offerman and Jeanne (William) Rourke; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends, Dr. George and Marge Osterberger; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. James "Bing" Kane; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. James "Bing" Kane as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
