SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Daniel Silverthorn of Afton, Iowa, who
4 passed away on November 20, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Daniel Silverthorn was born on December 7, 1920 in
6 Monroe Township in Madison County, Iowa; his parents were Eva
7 Belle (Brady) and Oliver Daniel Silverthorn; he married Georgia
8 Tabitha (McDonald) on November 27, 1941 in Grant City,
9 Missouri; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Daniel Silverthorn graduated from Macksburg High
11 School in 1939; he then lived and farmed in Iowa, then Missouri
12 before moving to Afton, Iowa in 2003, where he remained until
13 his passing; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Daniel Silverthorn was a member of the Alton,
15 Missouri Assembly of God Church and accepted Christ as his
16 Savior at the Beulah Chapel in Lorimor in the early 1950s; he
17 attended the Fellowship Church in Lorimor until he moved to
18 Missouri and served as a deacon and elder at the various
19 churches he attended; he was also a member of the Carpenters
20 Local #106; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Daniel Silverthorn was preceded in death by his

1 parents; his sister, Cleo Belle Silverthorn; and his brother,
2 Dale Silverthorn; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Daniel Silverthorn is survived by his wife,
4 Georgia; his sons, Danny Joe "Dan" (wife, Nancy) Silverthorn,
5 Freddy Dean "Fred" (wife, Roberta) Silverthorn, and Samuel
6 Louis "Sam" (wife, Donna) Silverthorn; his brother, Dwight
7 (wife, Afada) Silverthorn; and his seven grandchildren and 12
8 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Daniel Silverthorn; and
12 be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Daniel Silverthorn as an expression
15 of our sympathy.
