SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John L. Robison of Waukegan, who passed away on October 28, 2008; and

WHEREAS, John Robison was born in Waukegan on January 22, 1932; his parents were Carl F. and Phyllis F. Robison; and

WHEREAS, John Robison served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War, when he fought in the battle of Pork Chop Hill; he was a member of the Waukegan American Legion #281 and was active in helping to bring attention to this "forgotten" war; he was instrumental in having Glen Flora Avenue in Waukegan proclaimed the Korean War Memorial Drive; and

WHEREAS, John Robison graduated from Waukegan Township High School; he was employed with and retired from the City of Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, John Robison enjoyed watching baseball, especially his St. Louis Cardinals, bowling, and fishing; his summers were spent in relaxation at his home in Crivitz, Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, John Robison was preceded in death by his adored wife of 51 years, Norma (nee Tennyson); his parents, Carl F. and Phyllis F. (nee Gargone) Robison; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his precious aunts and uncles, Rocco and Mary DeBennette, Russell and Frances Snider, Sadie Gargone, Philip and Raemonda Mayer, and Genvieve Kerley; and

WHEREAS, John Robison was a devoted and loving husband to his late wife; loving father to his two sons, Gary S. (Leslie) and David C. Robison; grandfather to Sarah (Brad) Kutzler; and a great-grandfather to Stacie, Alyssa, and MacKenzie Kutzler; his memory will always be cherished by his twin sister, Joan L. Robison; his brother, Carl (Phyllis) Robison; his special cousins, Russell (Ilona) Snider, Joseph (Nancy) DeBennette, Judy Camarato, and Philip (Kathy) Meyer; his many friends, especially Melvin and Lorie Hutchinson; his many nieces and nephews; and his wonderful extended family of sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Girdley, Louise (Stanley) Gamble, Barbara Tennyson, Marilyn (Donald) Arnold, Joyce Tennyson, Otto (Norma) Tennyson, Neil (Gladys) Tennyson, John (Carol) Tennyson, and Tim (Mary) Tennyson; and his special friend and uncle, Donald Kerley; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John L. Robison; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John L. Robison as an expression of our sympathy.
