SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Wayne Perry of Plainfield, Illinois, who
4 passed away on December 17, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Wayne Perry was the publisher of the weekly
6 newspaper, The Enterprise, in Plainfield; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He and his wife, Beverly, purchased the newspaper
8 in 1985; Mr. Perry previously worked for the Chicago Tribune
9 and the Wall Street Journal; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Wayne Perry would do any job at the newspaper,
11 from shoveling snow, answering the telephone, to typesetting
12 and running the newsroom; his favorite job was delivering
13 newspapers to be sold around the community, giving him the
14 opportunity to meet and get to know business owners and their
15 employees; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He contributed to community groups and charities,
17 providing free advertising and printing, and helped to raise
18 money for tornado victims in the 1990s; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Wayne Perry was the beloved husband of Beverly,
20 nee Hendricks; the loving father of Steven, Lynn (Darlene

1 Szablewski), and Lisa (Andrew) Schuster; the grandfather of
2 Danielle, Michael, Matthew, Stephanie, and Rachel; the
3 step-grandfather of Kayla and Tara; the fond brother of Murvin
4 (Rita), Loran (Carol), Robert (Lola) and Ronald (Margaret)
5 Perry, and the late Bonnie, Donna, and Doris (Marvin)
6 Stroschein, and Lyle (Peggy) and Dale (Thelma) Perry; and the
7 uncle of many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend to the family
10 and friends of Wayne Perry our sincere condolences; and be it
11 further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Wayne Perry.
