SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Descenia Coleman, who passed away on
4 October 6, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Descenia Coleman was born on June 20, 1951 in
6 Forrest City, Arkansas; she was the daughter of Lonnie and
7 Odessia Horton; she married Samuel Miller Sr. in 1969; she
8 married her one true love, Tommie Earl Coleman, on May 15,
9 1999; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Descenia Coleman confessed her hope in Christ at
11 an early age; she joined the Thyatira Missionary Baptist Church
12 under the leadership of the Reverend William Berry; she then
13 moved her membership to the Little Mountain of Hope under the
14 leadership of Reverend Slayton Palms Jr., where she was a
15 member of the choir; her final church home was at Calvary
16 Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend
17 James R. Lint; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Descenia Coleman was employed at St. Joseph
19 Hospital for 29 1/2 years; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Descenia Coleman was preceded in death by her
21 parents; her brothers, Melvin and Lonnie, Jr.; and her sisters,

1 Patsy and Helen Horton; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Descenia Coleman is survived by her loving
3 husband, Tommie Coleman; her son, Samuel Miller Jr. (Dolores);
4 her sisters, Mary, Florence, Annette (Jerry), Marilyn,
5 Catherine (Duel), and Ida (Jorge); her brothers, Calvin (Joyce)
6 and Charles (Meri); her 29 nieces and nephews; her 21
7 great-nieces and nephews; her uncles, Joe Berry and J.W.
8 Horton; her aunts, Ella Mae Bryant, Ardenia Haggins, Flora
9 Henry, Marva Henry, and Narvi Henry; the Berry family (her
10 special sister and brothers); a host of close family and
11 friends, including her special friends, Vivian, Janis,
12 Lorraine, and Daphne; and her cat, Ms. Kitty; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 her family and friends, the passing of Descenia Coleman; and be
16 it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Descenia Coleman as an expression of
19 our sympathy.
