SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard J. "Rick" Gorman of Godfrey, who passed away on September 26, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He was born June 6, 1936, in Alton, the son of Daniel E. and Margaret (Brown) Gorman; he married Patricia Stiles on February 8, 1958, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Alton; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Marquette High School in 1954; he was a member of the electrician's IBEW Local 649 for 45 years, following in his father's footsteps; he was also a member of the Piasa Pistol Club, an avid reader, canoeist, swimmer, golfer, motor sports fan, and card player; he especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Daniel Gorman; and one sister, Patricia Gibbons; and

WHEREAS, He is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Michelle Gorman, Karen and Richard Buehlman, and Teresa and Mark Woulfe; his son and his spouse, Mark and Tami Gorman; his nine grandchildren, Jackie Gooch, Sgt. Joseph Buehlman, Teresa Buehlman, Mary Buehlman, Samantha Gorman, Sarah Gorman, Patrick Gorman, Jennifer Woulfe, and Richard Woulfe; his two great-grandchildren, Luke and Alex Gooch; his two sisters, Jeanne Edwards and her spouse, Richard, and Margaret Hohnstedt; and one brother and his spouse, Robert and Nancy Gorman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Richard Gorman; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Richard J. "Rick" Gorman as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
