SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Thomas P. "Cotton" Campbell of Benld,
4 formerly of Gillespie, who passed away on August 21, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Thomas P. Campbell was born on November 4, 1916 in
6 Gillespie; he was the son of the late John P. and Catherine M.
7 (McMahon) Campbell; he married Mildred Falke in June of 1941;
8 they divorced in 1966; he married Tillie P. (Costa) Gaudio on
9 June 21, 1969 in Carlinville; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Thomas P. Campbell was a retired coal miner, steel
11 worker, and maintenance engineer for Alton State Hospital; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Thomas P. Campbell was a member of the Macoupin
13 County Board for 20 years; he was a former alderman for the
14 City of Gillespie; he was a former secretary for the
15 Progressive Mine Workers of America and the United
16 Steelworkers; he was also a former president of the Benld
17 Senior Citizens and an amateur boxer; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Thomas P. Campbell was a member of the Litchfield
19 Moose Lodge and the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 217 of
20 Benld; and

1     WHEREAS, Thomas P. Campbell was preceded in death by his
2 parents; his son, John Campbell; and his brothers, James and
3 John "Star" Campbell; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Thomas P. Campbell is survived by his wife,
5 Tillie; his daughter, Pat Matevey and husband, Gary; his
6 stepson, Darrel Gaudio; his stepdaughter, Joeen Tallman and
7 husband, Kent; his daughter-in-law, Yvonne Campbell; his
8 grandchildren, Carlene Diaz and husband, Richard, Natalie
9 Bared and husband, Victor, and Jolene Bosch and husband,
10 Ashley; his six great-grandchildren and three
11 step-grandchildren; his three step-great-grandchildren; and
12 his brother, Pat Campbell and wife, Irene; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of Thomas P. Campbell; and
16 be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Thomas P. Campbell as an expression
19 of our sympathy.
