SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Dwight Rattler of East St. Louis, who
4 passed away on July 24, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born August 15, 1950 in Golden Garden, the
6 son of Charlie, Sr. and Essie Mae (James) Rattler; he confessed
7 his faith early and attended First Baptist Church under the
8 pastor of Reverend J.H. Collins; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He graduated from East St. Louis Senior High
10 School in 1969; he enlisted in the United States Army and
11 served as a Military Police Officer and platoon leader; he
12 attended the University of Illinois at Chicago; he graduated
13 from Texas Southern University with a degree in Administration
14 of Justice; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He had a passion of politics and world affairs; he
16 served as the Chairman of the Centreville Democratic
17 Organization for many years; he loved sports, was a golf caddy
18 in his youth, and played golf throughout his life; and he
19 coached little league football during his early adulthood; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Over the course of his life he held a position at
21 Monsanto Chemical Company, worked as a Juvenile Probation

1 Officer for the St. Louis Juvenile Court, and was the part-time
2 Director of Centreville Parks for eight years; for the last
3 eighteen years he worked for School District 189 of East St.
4 Louis, most recently as Director of Security; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Dwight Rattler is survived by his wife of 26
6 years, Janet L. (Woodard) Rattler; his daughters, Lauriel L.
7 Rattler and Brittney S. Rattler; his mother-in-law, Myrdis
8 Woodard; his sister-in-law, Zandra Thomas (husband, Carl
9 Thomas); brothers-in-law, Morris Woodard and Marvin Woodard,
10 Jr. (wife, Zena Woodard); mother, Essie Mae Rattler; brothers,
11 Clemel Rattler (wife, Doris Rattler), Charlie Rattler, Jr.
12 (wife, Lillie Rattler), and Kenneth Rattler (wife, Marquato
13 Rattler); sister, Leatrice Jackson; his special nephew, Drake
14 Jackson; and a host of relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
15     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17 his family and friends, the passing of Dwight Rattler; and be
18 it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of Dwight Rattler as a symbol of our
21 sympathy.
