SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Elizabeth Anne "Dolly" Parker Selph of
4 Alton, who passed away on August 11, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, She was born October 13, 1919, in Carlyle, Stewart
6 County, Tennessee, to the late William Whitfield and G. LaRue
7 (Clymer) Burcham; she was married to the late William E. Parker
8 Sr. for 36 years; in June 1974, she married Roby O. Selph; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She enjoyed many hobbies, including oil painting,
10 gardening, and sewing; throughout her life, she was a voracious
11 reader and loved good literature; she was an avid baseball fan;
12 and
 
13     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her
14 husband, Roby; her brother, Kenneth W. Burcham; and her sister,
15 Gloria Faith Means; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Elizabeth Selph is survived by two sons and a
17 daughter-in-law, William E. and Rita Parker Jr. and James
18 Richard Parker; her daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth A.
19 Parker and Jerry Yeley, Jane M. and Thomas LaBrot, Joan M. and
20 Keith Haasis, and Theresa P. and Marshall Smith II; her
21 stepchildren, the youngest two she helped raise, and spouses,

1 John R. and Patti Selph and Craig S. and Barb Selph; her nine
2 grandchildren, Brian R. Parker, Peter K. Parker, Timothy M.
3 Parker, Brigit Schwartz-Holt , Meredith A. Schwartz, Jolie E.
4 LaBrot, Brianna P. LaBrot, Marshall Smith III, and Matthew
5 Smith; her five great-grandchildren; and numerous
6 step-grandchildren, including Captain Terri Robbins, now
7 stationed in Afghanistan; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 her family and friends, the passing of Elizabeth Anne Selph;
11 and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Elizabeth Anne Selph as a symbol of
14 our sympathy.
