SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of U.S. Army Specialist Ryan Michael Carper of Sugar Grove, who passed away on August 7, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper was born on August 25, 1987 in Winfield; his parents were Michael and Bridget Carper; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper grew up in Batavia, where he continually pursed his many varied interests over the years; during grade school, he was active in the Cub Scouts and Tri-Cities football and soccer; during middle school, he earned money mowing yards and shoveling snow and was active in his church youth group; he picked up a tennis racket for the first time during his freshman year in high school, becoming a member of the tennis team for all four years of high school; he then attended the University of Illinois and was a member of the Pi Lambda Phi fraternity; he was a good student and perpetually on the honor roll during his time in school; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper was employed at In The Swim in West Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper joined the Illinois National Guard (Army Infantry) and served for three years, attaining the rank of Specialist; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Carper; his uncle, Donald Tucker; and his uncle, Stephen Carper; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper is survived by his parents; his sister, Jessica; his grandmother and step-grandfather, Dale and Florence Lint; his grandparents, Donald and June Tucker; and his many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; and

WHEREAS, Specialist Ryan Carper will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a loving and caring young man with a great sense of humor and whose sense of pride and duty in serving his country was unmatched; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of U.S. Army Specialist Ryan Michael Carper; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Specialist Ryan Carper as an expression of our sympathy.
