SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jo Ellen Malham of Springfield, who passed away on August 9, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Jo Ellen Malham was born March 18, 1961, in Springfield, the daughter of Lynn R. Malham and Vivian R. Hall; she was preceded in death by her father on September 21, 1994; and

WHEREAS, Jo Ellen was a 1979 graduate of Carlinville High School; she was also a graduate of Robert Morris College in Carthage and Lincoln Land Community College with a degree in nursing; and

WHEREAS, She worked as a registered nurse specializing in gastroenterology at Memorial Medical Center for 18 years; she was a member of Atwater Christian Church, the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates, and the board of directors of Air Rendezvous; she was a volunteer with the LPGA, the Festival of Trees, past president of the Springfield Cardinals Booster Club, and was an avid Cardinals fan; and

WHEREAS, While growing up in Carlinville, she was the Macoupin County Pork Queen and was worthy advisor of the Rainbow Girls; she also wrote a chapter in the Mosley Publishing Co. textbook about nursing on gastroenterology and held certification seminars; and

WHEREAS, Jo Ellen Malham is survived by her mother, Vivian R. Hall; her brothers, Roger L. (Mary) Malham and Curtis E. (Kathy); her nephew; her nieces; her great-nephew; her great-nieces; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Jo Ellen Malham; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jo Ellen Malham as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
