SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Pauline Heward of Peoria, who passed away on July 18, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Pauline Heward was born on October 8, 1930 in Peoria; her parents were Elmer Paul and Hazel Violet Flinner Bayer; she married her husband, Duane, on May 20, 1978; and

WHEREAS, Pauline Heward graduated from Wyoming High School in 1948 and attended Brown's Business College; she was employed with Caterpillar as a corporate accountant for 35 years until her retirement on January 1, 1991; and

WHEREAS, Pauline Heward was a member of Glen Oak Christian Church, where she served on the board as Financial Secretary for many years; and

WHEREAS, Pauline Heward was very active as a community volunteer, working with RSVP, the Red Cross, and was a founding member of Habitat for Humanity in the Peoria area; she was very touched when she and her husband were the original recipients of the Volunteer of the Year Award given by Counseling & Family Services, which has continued to be given annually as The Duane & Polly Heward Volunteer of the Year Award; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Pauline Heward; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Pauline Heward as an expression of our sympathy.
