SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond C. Whitlock III, of Wheaton, who passed away on June 19, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Whitlock was the art director for Christianity Today Inc., for 15 years and an award-winning designer; he was on staff for 12 years with Tyndale House Publishing Company; and

WHEREAS, He received his B.A. of fine arts from Northern Illinois University; Mr. Whitlock was born in New York City, but was raised in Rome, Italy, where he graduated from Oversees School of Rome, then came to the United States for college; he was a member of Wheaton Bible Church for over 30 years and attended Evangelical Free Church of Naperville since 2005; he served in both churches in the children's ministries; and

WHEREAS, He was an extensive world traveler, who also visited the Ukraine, where he taught design classes for those involved in Christian publications; Raymond continually had a great love for art, classical through contemporary; his own art shows were also displayed at various times throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, Raymond C. Whitlock III was the beloved husband of Joan (nee Hermsmeier); the loving father of Jason (Erika) and Matthew; the cherished grandfather of August Peter; the fond son of Raymond C. Jr. (the late Lois); and the devoted brother of Barbara (Davide) Baccella; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Raymond C. Whitlock III; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raymond C. Whitlock III as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
