SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of former Illinois Senate doorkeeper Edward
4 H. Sauer of Springfield, who passed away on October 27, 2007;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, He was born June 1, 1934, in Spaulding, the son of
7 Edward and Edith M. Schewe Sauer; he married Nancy Foreman on
8 October 20, 1956; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Sauer was a lifelong resident of Springfield;
10 he worked for the Springfield Police Department, joining it on
11 June 14, 1956, and retiring on May 2, 1988; he was a motorcycle
12 officer, patrolman, beat cop, and then worked in the towing
13 division; he served as Doorkeeper for the Illinois Senate from
14 1995 to 2007; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverton;
16 he was a member of Illinois Police Association, Police
17 Benevolent Association, Aqua Sports Club, and Eagles Aerie 437,
18 where he was a trustee; he enjoyed fishing, gardening, NASCAR,
19 and playing shuffleboard; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and

1     WHEREAS, Surviving are his wife, Nancy Sauer; his two
2 daughters, Patti L. Sauer (partner, Kim Smith) and Toni M.
3 (husband, Michael) Mitchell; his son, Edward W. (wife, Julie)
4 Sauer; his seven grandchildren, Stephen, Erica, and Madison
5 Sauer and Mykayla, Marcus, Mackenzie, and Madilyn Mitchell; his
6 two sisters, Clara Wright and Edith A. (husband, Lee) Hooper;
7 and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 his family and friends, the passing of Edward H. Sauer; and be
11 it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Edward H. Sauer as a symbol of our
14 sincere sympathy.
