SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Susan K. Morton, nee Kingsbury, of Joliet, who passed away December 23, 2007; and

WHEREAS, She was a graduate of Joliet Central High School and received her B.A. from Northwestern University; she was a long-time member of the Delta Delta Delta chapter and informed high school students about sorority life; and

WHEREAS, She was a past member of Holly Club and a current member of a local investment club; and she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; and

WHEREAS, She taught elementary school and worked as a district sales manager for Holiday Inn; she was Vice-President of Timpco Corporation; and she participated in and donated to medical research studies to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Kingsbury; and her brother-in-law, Edward Purple; and

WHEREAS, She is survived by her husband, Malcolm Morton; her son, Jeff (Maureen) Petru; her daughter, Katherine Petru; her step-children, Mardee (Gary) Roeber, Mylene Morton, and Mark (Pam) Morton; her two grandchildren, her eight step-grandchildren; her sister, Lynn Purple; and her brother, Paul (Jackie) Kingsbury; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Susan K. Morton; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Susan K. Morton as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
